PAPI and APAPI systems provide pilots with a safe and accurate glide slope on final approach to the runway. The precision approach path indicator (PAPI) uses a row of light housing assemblies (LHAs) placed perpendicular to the runway approach path. Pilots can easily determine if their approach is too high, too low, or correctly on slope through combinations of red and white lights. The Carmanah PAPI/APAPI is available in three basic models with multiple configuration options to exceed ICAO, FAA, and STANAG requirements.

Easy Installation
The precision approach path indicator (PAPI) works equally well in permanent or temporary locations. Permanent mounting is easy with standard frangible mounting. Temporary deployment is fast with retractable legs and a lightweight, compact form factor.

Advanced Optics
The PAPI and the abbreviated PAPI (APAPI) use patented, LED-based optics to achieve the lowest power consumption, highest intensity, and sharpest white/red transition. They exceed ICAO, FAA, and STANAG requirements to provide a clear approach path to the aviator.

Power Supply Versatility
The low power consumption of the PAPI makes it mate well with several available power supplies:
• Solar kit
• Generator kit
• Battery kit
• AC only

The optional wireless control provides on-demand operation from over 4 km (2.5 mi) away. There is also 3- and 5-step, wired control, and local control available.

Deployed around the globe, from military to civilian airfields and from the Middle East to the Arctic Circle, the PAPI has proven it is robust.

Airfield Manager
US Army National Guard

“Carmanah airfield lights saved lives in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom II at Balad Air Base. Your sturdy maintenance-free self-contained lights were deployed in one day, lighting our parking pads, refueling areas, taxiways and four landing pads for our 140 plus helicopters. They instantly made our operations safer. Great product.”

USAF Pilot
US Air Force

“We tested the A704 and I must say it is nice. It was on this morning when I pulled in. Yesterday we had a midday thunderstorm and it came on due to the overcast. I was surprised at how little darkness it needed to trigger operational mode.”

Airfield Manager
US Air National Guard

“We have received great feedback from our range control officers and the aircrews alike. The lights have truly lived up to and far exceeded our expectations. I would not hesitate to recommend them to our fellow ranges.”
