PRESS RELEASE: SOLAR-POWERED HELIPAD LIGHTING PROVIDES A FAST AND COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTION
DECEMBER 9, 2004
The Tallil Air Force Base in Iraq has placed an additional order for Carmanah’s solar-powered LED aviation lights for installation on the helipad section of its airfield. Fifty (50) of Carmanah’s Model 702 Helipad Edge lights will be used for permanent installation along with sixty (60) units each of the corresponding mounting accessories (includes spares).
Using Carmanah’s optional 702 Mounting Plates, Floor Flanges and 1.5″ Frangible Couplings, the air base is ensuring the new helipad lights are installed with breakaway capability for hovering rotorcraft. Of the total number of units ordered, 15 white lights will be used on the runway approach, 25 amber lights will be used for the helipad edge and 10 green lights will be used along the apron edge.
Carmanah’s Helipad Edge Lights provide a fast and cost-effective solution for the lighting of permanent and expedited helipad zones. Without the need of conventional power systems, these units can be installed in minutes without disrupting incoming and outgoing medivac or tactical operations.
Carmanah Helipad Edge Lights are field-proven to be reliable and durable under the harshest of environmental conditions. They are used at many of the US Air Force, Army, and Marine Corps bases in the Middle East with continuing success.
